September Conference News
The second major conference season of the year usually gets underway in September, and this year is no different. Igalia will be right in the thick of it with eighteen talks across eight different events — and even more impressive, we don’t even get started until the middle of the month! Here’s where to find us, and some details on what we’ll be presenting:
- IBC2025, September 12–15 — Thibault Saunier will give a talk titled “GStreamer: Powering cloud video editing and post-production workflows”, a look at real-world use cases for the video editing capabilities GStreamer offers, including the technical approaches used and business outcomes achieved in a series of practical implementation stories.
- GOSIM China 2025, September 13–14 — we’ll present “Servo: A New Web Engine Written in Rust” by Manuel Rego, and “Deep Analysis of Servo Layout System” by Martin Robinson, at this open-source conference in Hangzhou, China.
- RDK 2025 Global Summit, September 16 — following on IBC (see above), we’ll be on site at the RDK Summit to showcase WPE and Amazon Luna on a RDK reference Set-Top-Box.
- SquiggleConf, September 18–19 — look for “Source Maps: How Does the Magic Work?” by Nicolò Ribaudo, a dive into recent changes and upcoming improvements in this essential piece of JavaScript tooling.
- India FOSS 2025, September 19–21 — Ujjwal Sharma will present “Nobody asks “How is JavaScript?””, an overview of JavaScript’s processes and initiatives that will shape the Web’s most popular programming language for the future.
- Kernel Recipes, September 22–24 — Igalia always tries to be present at (and sponsor) this annual Linux kernel conference, and this year’s edition will include “A Rusty Odyssey: A Timeline of Rust in the DRM subsystem” by Maíra Canal, and “Kworkflow: Mix & Match Kernel Recipes End-to-end” by Melissa Wen.
- X.Org Developer’s Conference 2025, September 29 – October 1 — this one’s the blockbuster, with nine talks by Igalians on topics ranging from Mesa to Vulkan to Raspberry Pi to Etnaviv to Turnip, and more than fifteen of us attending. Talk details weren’t up on the conference site as this post went to press, so we’ll follow up with a more detailed post closer to the event.
- All Systems Go!, September 30 – October 1 — this conference, which is focused on foundational user-space Linux technologies, will get to hear “Dirlock: a new tool to manage encrypted filesystems” by Alberto Garcia and “Yocto’s hidden gem: OTA and seamless updates with systemd-sysupdate” by Emmanuele Bassi and Martín Abente Lahaye
We always enjoy talking with people, so if you find yourself at one of the above events, please take a moment to say hi! And if you have any questions regarding any of our talks, are interested in having an Igalian bring a talk to an upcoming event, or you’d just like to learn more about Igalia, please feel free to reach out.
