Igalia at XDC 2025: Nine Talks and Workshops
The X.Org Developer’s Conference (XDC) is back! From September 29 to October 1, developers from all over the world will gather at TU Wien in Vienna, Austria to discuss open graphics technologies such as Linux kernel, Mesa, DRM, Wayland, X11, and more.
This year, Igalians will deliver seven talks and two workshops, covering everything from Vulkan drivers to Mesa CI and GPU recovery. Here’s a quick look at the sessions we’ll present:
- “What’s new in ir3” by Job Noorman (September 29, 10:05) A tour of the latest hardware features supported in the ir3 compiler backend for Adreno GPUs, plus a look at the debugging and reverse engineering tools we use.
- “Improvements to the Raspberry Pi driver stack” by Juan A. Suarez & Ella Stanforth (September 29, 10:30) Recent work on OpenGL 3.2 compliance, stability fixes, and performance boosts for the Raspberry Pi driver.
- “Addressing Mesa CI pain points”, by Eric Engestrom Martin Roukala & Sergi Blanch Torné (September 29, 16:55) What’s working, what’s not, and the roadmap for one of the most complex CI pipelines in open source.
- “Vulkan CTS Tips & Tricks” by Ricardo Garcia (September 29, 17:20) Practical advice for navigating the Vulkan Conformance Test Suite: building faster, finding tests, and reporting issues.
- “Workshop: Mesa CI – What still needs to be done?” by Eric Engestrom, Martin Roukala & Sergi Blanch Torné (September 30, 09:15) A hands-on session to discuss ongoing Mesa CI challenges like flaky jobs, long waits, and GPU hangs.
- “Workshop: GPU recovery” by Rodrigo Siqueira (September 30, 11:25) Exploring how GPUs recover from errors, from kernel-level resets to userspace strategies.
- “Improving buffer and image copies on Turnip” by Karmjit Mahil (September 30, 17:55) A Lightning Talk about how new hardware features in Adreno GPUs speed up buffer and image copies, with performance gains over 70%.
- “Turnip: Improving performance without compromising correctness” by Danylo Piliaiev (October 1, 09:15) Using CI with game captures to catch regressions early and keep the open-source Vulkan driver for Adreno GPUs both fast and reliable.
- “Adapting etnaviv to contemporary Vivante hardware” by Christian Gmeiner (October 1, 10:30) Bringing etnaviv up to speed with newer Vivante GPUs, making strides toward full GLES3 support.
