Igalia at GStreamer 2025
The GStreamer Conference is back! On October 23rd and 24th, developers from around the world will gather at the Barbican Centre in London, UK, to discuss multimedia technologies, including decoders and encoders, editing, network streaming, web technologies, and APIs like Vulkan, PipeWire, and Video4Linux, primarily using GStreamer. We’re proud to sponsor this event again at the Platinum level.
This year, Igalia will deliver three talks and three lightning talks:

VVC/H.266 in GStreamer by Carlos Bentzen (October 23rd, 17:00): An overview of the VVC codec and ecosystem, along with GStreamer’s building blocks and contributions for supporting it.

GstWebRTC in WebKit, current status & plans by Philippe Normand (October 24th, 13:15): We’ll present the current integration status of GstWebRTC in WebKit and achievements since GStreamer Conference 2024.

Time Remapping and GES: Implementation Details and Latest Updates by Thibault Saunier (October 24th, 16:40): An update on GStreamer Editing Services (GES), focusing on the newly stabilized linear time remapping feature, which enables effects like slow motion and reverse playback.

soothe: a proposal for encoder testing by Víctor Jáquez (October 23rd, 18:10): Soothe is a testing framework for encoder quality, running test suites to compare encoder implementations and configurations. (lightning talk)

GstVA and GStreamer-VAAPI updates by Víctor Jáquez (October 23rd, 18:40): We’ll discuss the removal of the GStreamer-VAAPI subproject, its replacement by GstVA in gst-plugins-bad, and the roadmap ahead. (lightning talk)
