The Intel Mesa driver for Linux now officially conforms with Khronos' Vulkan 1.1 Adopters Program, a certification program by which the Vulkan Working Group reviews and approves Vulkan products.

Barely a month ago we announced that the Intel Mesa OpenGL driver obtained OpenGL 4.6 conformance on day one, and now  we are pleased to announce the same for Vulkan 1.1. This is a tremendous achievement by Intel, and we at Igalia are very proud to have been a part of this effort.

One of Igalia's major contributions was the implementation of the VK_KHR_16bit_storage extension. This extension allows Vulkan applications to read and store 16-bit data types to and from memory for use in shaders across the graphics pipeline. There was also extensive work on bug triaging and fixing in the Intel Vulkan driver to ensure it was fully conformant on day one of the Vulkan 1.1 announcement, as well as code reviews of some of the Vulkan 1.1 features developed by Intel.

Finally, we have also extensively contributed to the Khronos Conformance Test Suite for Vulkan, both adding new tests and as well as reviewing, validating and bugfixing tests developed by other Khronos members.

Igalia is very proud of having been a part of what is undoubtedly a huge achievement that makes Intel Linux platforms a first-class citizen of graphics APIs.
