Compilers & Programming Languages Developer

Igalia is looking to hire a developer for its compilers team. Our team implements programming languages, ranging from traditional ahead-of-time compilers to state-of-the-art virtual machines for dynamic languages like JavaScript, Lua, or Guile. As a hacker joining the group, you will have the chance to improve technologies used by millions of developers throughout the world.

This specific position is targeted to the V8 JavaScript engine. You will implement language features, work on the compiler, and implement tooling around V8.

There are no hard requirements for this position, technically, beyond an ability in C++ and an interest in programming languages. In the four or five years that we have been working on JavaScript implementations, we have always grown our own compiler and virtual machine experience internally, and we would expect you to grow to fit the role. There are many valid starting points.  In your CV and cover letter, please highlight the experience that you will be building on, and explain how it prepares you for language implementation. Please be sure to specifically mention experience with C++, or C.

This position is remote-friendly. You are welcome to work from wherever you like; other team members work from such far-flung places as Toronto, Chicago, Geneva, Madrid, and Helsinki. The team also meets in person at the head offices in Galicia, Spain a few times per year.
