Tools and User Interface Developer

Job position description

At Igalia we are looking to hire a developer to be in charge of creating new software tools and to maintain and evolve existing ones. The environment for these tools will be GNU/Linux and most of them will be web applications, although occasionally they may be systems or desktop applications as well. Accordingly, having a broad software development background is desirable.

This role will also involve designing user interfaces, although we are not looking for a graphic designer, having artistic, design or usability experience will be a plus.

The tools we maintain exist as open-source projects, therefore we will expect the candidate to be comfortable working in an open-source environment, including being comfortable communicating and working in the public, and having a strong understanding of version control systems.

Good communication abilities are key, since the role will entail communicating with various teams within Igalia, depending on the application involved. At the same time, self-motivation and independence will be required since the development will be done mostly as an individual.

We welcome and encourage applicants from a diverse background to apply, it is not required to have experience in all the requirements listed above, what is most important is a motivation to carry out this work.

Finally, if you have a portfolio of previous web development and/or UI projects you have completed, you are encouraged to include them by attaching a summary in your application (see: Other documents field).

If you are interested in this offer, please fill in the form. All fields marked with an asterisk must be completed.
