October/November Conference News
The last part of October brings us a whole pile of events, with many of them featuring talks by Igalians. After the month ends, we’re looking forward to a couple of events in November. Here’s where we’ll be presenting talks:
- RISC-V Summit North America, October 22–23 — this community-curated gathering of RISC-V developers in Santa Clara, CA, will feature a number of talks, and among them will be “Unlocking 15% More Performance: A Case Study in LLVM Optimization for RISC-V” by Mikhail Gadelha, an exploration of ways to improve performance on RISC-V processors in upstream LLVM, achieving better SPEC 2017 benchmark results.
- GStreamer Conference, October 23–24, followed by the GStreamer Hackfest — at this annual gathering for developers, community members, students and anyone else interested in the GStreamer multimedia framework, Igalians will be on site in London to present three full talks and three lightning talks:
- “GstWebRTC in WebKit, current status & plans” by Philippe Normand will present the current integration status of GstWebRTC in WebKit and the achievements accomplished since GStreamer Conference 2024
- “VVC/H.266 in GStreamer” by Carlos Bentzen will give an overview of the VVC codec and ecosystem, along with the building blocks and contributions in GStreamer for supporting this codec
- “Time Remapping and GES: Implementation Details and Latest Updates” by Thibault Saunier will provide an update on the latest developments in GStreamer Editing Services (GES), with a special focus on the newly stabilized linear time remapping feature
- ⚡️“soothe: a proposal for encoder testing” by Victor Manuel Jáquez Leal will discuss this command-line testing framework, written in Python, for encoder quality
- ⚡️“GstVA and GStreamer-VAAPI updates” by Victor Manuel Jáquez Leal will cover the removal of GStreamer-VAAPI and its replacement by GstVA
- ⚡️“Vulkan Video: pipeline update” by Stéphane Cerveau will look at the state of the art of the present and coming Vulkan video elements, architecture, codecs and challenges
- JSConf JP, November 16 — a JavaScript festival held in Tokyo by the Japan Node.js Association, which aims to become a bridge between Japanese Web Developers and International Web Developers. We’ll be presenting there twice:
- “Evolving the Node.js module loader” by Joyee Cheung will dive into the story of some of the new features in the Node.js module loader -
require(esm), the compile cache, and the module loader customization hooks - “WinterTC: Standards for server-side runtimes” by Andreu Botella is a look at the work of the Ecma Technical Committee that aims to publish standards for server-side runtimes
- “Evolving the Node.js module loader” by Joyee Cheung will dive into the story of some of the new features in the Node.js module loader -
We’ll also have Igalians in attendance at the LLVM Dev Meeting (October 27–29), FOMS (October 28), the WebKit Contributors Meeting (October 28–29), Demuxed (October 29–30), Performance.now(), October 30–31, and the W3C’s TPAC (November 10–14).
