"18 Years in the Free Software Community!"

In September, Igalia will celebrate its 18th anniversary. Igalia was founded in 2001 by 10 software developers with a vision of creating a free software company based on cooperation, innovation, and shared responsibility. Igalia’s early work was in the GNOME ecosystem but by 2010 Igalia had become the world’s leading web engines consultancy, and top contributor to the WebKit and Chromium projects. Since 2001, the company has grown in terms of projects, technologies, community involvement, etc. as well as the number of Igalians as we now have over 80 Igalians, based in over 20 countries. The vision of the founding members has continued to be fulfilled by holding a constant and relevant presence in many upstream projects, such as WebKit, Chromium, Mesa 3D, GStreamer, Servo, etc.

The past 18 years have been full of exciting opportunities and changes but the company’s commitment to equality, software freedom, and collaborative innovation has remained and is part of the reason for our success. We thank everyone who has been a part of our journey and we are looking forward to the excitement of the future!
