At Igalia, we care deeply about Free Software – a collective effort to build a commons that empowers users to freely use, modify, and share the software that is part of our lives.

With the recent news that Richard Stallman is no longer on the board of the Free Software Foundation, the software freedom movement is presented with a unique opportunity to reflect on its past and to build tomorrow’s organization.

In particular, we in the software freedom community should reflect on ways in which our behaviors have marginalized fellow community members and actively work to prevent such patterns in the future. Software freedom is for all people, and tolerating sexist behaviors in the Free Software Foundation is not only unjust, but also counterproductive in building the robust, inclusive, effective movement of tomorrow.

Igalia supports the Free Software Foundation in its efforts to restructure and sends good wishes to its talented, capable staff in this time of transition.
