"Intel Ivybridge and Braswell GPUs now support OpenGL 4.2"

A new version of Mesa has just been released! Mesa 17.1 is now available for download.

Igalia has contributed to an important milestone for users with Intel Ivybridge and Braswell GPUs: the support for ARB_gpu_shader_fp64 and ARB_vertex_attrib_64bit extensions is now available, which brings OpenGL 4.2 driver support to these GPUs.

Igalia has worked side-by-side with Intel engineers on bugfixes across different parts of the stack, improving the quality and maturity of the driver for this Mesa release. Thanks to our membership to the Khronos Group, we also contributed tests and bugfixes to the conformance suite itself for both the OpenGL and the Vulkan drivers on Intel GPUs, which have also benefited the development of this new Mesa release.

Lately, Igalia has started contributing actively to Mesa releases. Andrés Gómez and Juan Suárez are working together with the rest of the Mesa community and maintainers to produce stable releases, such as 17.0.5, on a more frequent basis, which will hopefully benefit many users.

We are honored by the opportunity to work with amazing industry partners such as Intel, and also very proud of our contributions to the open source Linux graphics stack!
