For the second time, the GNOME and the KDE communities collocate their corresponding GUADEC and Akademy annual conferences making them a single joint event: The Desktop Summit.

The first Desktop Summit took place in 2009 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. The second edition will be held at the Humboldt University, in Berlin, Germany next August from 6th to 12th.

Igalia has been a long term supporter of the GNOME community, contributing to several components and applications since the creation of the company, ten years ago. During these years, Igalia has used the experience obtained in the FLOSS community to improve its business opportunities and build the company upon it. Sponsoring community events like The Desktop Summit for the 6th consecutive year (together with previous GUADECs) is just one of the means we use to say "Thank you!".

As usual a good number of Igalians will also be present and deliver talks in the event, as well as collaborating, meeting old friends and having fun. Take the chance to say hello!
