After his studies, Jacobo joined Igalia's team in July 2007. His first contact with computing came with an Amstrad CPC, when he was a child. Upon reading its programming manual he decided what to do as a grown-up. Now, as a computer engineer, he is interested in the integration of computers as living-room multimedia centers, home automation in general, and completing his videogame collection. Besides this, he likes traveling, music, and dancing; in fact, he thinks hitting all the discos in Galicia is a good way of doing the three things at the same time!

Working at Igalia since its foundation. I spend a lot of my time working with my laptop (fangorn); my first computer was a fantastic Spectrum Z80. I love cycling and trekking in the countryside. I participate in several Free Software Groups like GPUL and GNOME HISPANO. I am collaborating with the University of A Coruña, where I am doing my PhD research on Information Retrieval at the IRLab.

Felipe joined Igalia in May 2007, after two years in Stuttgart finishing his degree in Software Engineering and complementing it with an internship at IBM. He has a keen interest in innovative UIs and mobile devices, and has been working for quite some time on the Maemo platform using GNOME technologies. In 2009-2010 he will be attending the MSc in Human-Centred Technologies at the University of York. Like Mario, Felipe is a skilled diabolo player, too.

I have been working at Igalia since January 2003, and people usually call me JaviF (Javi Fisterra) or jfernandez. At Igalia, I work on GNOME technologies and am the main developer of the Fisterra project aimed at improving the possibilities of GNOME with regard to enterprise software. I like playing roller hockey, where I am a semiprofessional player.

One of the founding members of Igalia, Alberto loves computing since he got his first ZX Spectrum in the early nineties. Now he likes programming in languages like Perl, Bourne Shell, C, and C++. Besides computers he also likes cinema and swimming at the beach, but his greatest passion is music: he has hundreds of records and loves going to concerts.

Working at Igalia since June 2003 and partner of the company. Having a background experience in system administration, analysis, programming, project management, art design, etc., Andrés is know as "the Renaissance guy" at Igalia, as you can rely on him to help you with any problem you may have. However, some of his partners call him "the sleeping man" (you do not want to know why). Lately, he has been deeply involved in Gtk+/Gnome technologies and likes to spend his spare time making some art work, which includes some logos used in local Gnome conferences, playing basketball, listening to music, improving his English by reading novels and watching TV series, and traveling abroad as much as he can afford.

Working at Igalia since February 2004 and partner of the company. Miguel is an enthusiastic socializer, which includes every kind of party, meeting, or collective activity (you know, human beings are social animals). He loves going out with his friends and is always looking for something fun to do. He also likes going to the gym and every now and then playing some RPG (hey, can a lvl 25 gnome hacker cast a fireball? :P).

Igalian, imported from Mexico, since April 2008. Somebody says he holds a masters degree in computer science, but he rather enjoys life using free software, reading books, watching films and, from times to times, writing ramblings. But he prefers to avoid the artificial definitions and embrace the experience.

After finishing his Master's degree in Computer Science in the University of Évora - Portugal, Joaquim joined Igalia in late 2008. He has worked from web programming to OCR, desktop and mobile programming and is a proud Open Source an Linux advocate. Once, he stumbled upon Python and fell in love with it. He likes to create tools that help other people accomplish things easily. Unlike his fellow Igalians, he cannot play football... but he loooves metal music, movies, games, painting, learning languages (human and programming ones) and a cold beer when the weather demands so.

"I gotta work there!", he said when he first heard of Igalia the year it was created. While finishing his degree, he worked a couple of summers as trainee and some months as employee before traveling to Stuttgart (Germany) to do his master's thesis. He loves (in this order): his family (including his girlfriend), his friends, Igalia (these two last points have people in common), Galicia, free software (especially Gnome), computers, Germany (especially Stuttgart), and cinema. At present, he is an Igalia partner (on trial) and works with Gnome technologies. His three favorite places are: A Coruña ("aquí teño a miña vida"), Marín ("aquí crecín") and Stuttgart ("ich bin ein Stuttgarter").

He knew about Igalia by some friends which were already working at the company, and joined the team in June 2008. As he likes to say: ‘I am thrilled to be here: that was sooner than I would ever expect!’ Being a self-taught GNU/Linux user and C programmer was the main reason which made him study computer science: he discovered that it was possible to gain control over the electron beams flowing inside computers. After checking a number of programming languages -and becoming a ‘language lawyer’- some day he discovered Python, and immediately became addicted to it. He also enjoys understanding how operative systems work: this way he entered the world of security.

Working at Igalia since January 2006, with a previous experience in 2004 as a trainee student. API likes computer stuff since he was a child, at first due to videogames. He likes to spend the weekend lazing with friends, playing foosball, tute (a card game), darts, and occasionally soccer, although recently he has been playing less and less soccer and, instead, has started to play the bass guitar. He has come to the conclusion that he plays the bass guitar in the same way he plays soccer and foosball: in a rash, imprecise, and rough way.

Claudio joined the Igalia fame in late May 2008, after having finished his studies in Computer Engineering at the Universidad de Talca, in Chile. During his university years, he devoted plenty of his time to contribute to the GNOME Project, specially to the Eye of GNOME image viewer. Claudio is currently working from Santiago de Chile, but plans to join the A Coruña crew as soon as possible. He is a big lover of Rock, Progressive, and Jazz music. He loves playing the electric guitar and making photographs. Although he sucks at soccer, he can always be seen trying to impress other GNOME hackers during the FreeFA tournament at GUADEC. Obviously, he never succeeds.

Iago has been a member of Igalia since 2003 and became a partner of the company in 2006. He has been passionate about computers and software development since he was sixteen, and he is specially fond of computer graphics programming. He has also been a Linux and Gnome user for several years now. Iago likes hanging around the city during a walk, weather permitting. Thus, you may see him on A Coruña's seaside walk on sunny evenings.
