Social Responsibility
Igalia is not isolated from society, we are part of it. Some of the initiatives we promote are:
- Support economic & development organizations
Igalia supports social and economic development promoted by organizations by being a member of: AGASOL, GNOME, EGANET, Artemis.
- GNOME
GNOME board, GNOME Mobile initiative, sponsoring events, collaborating with projects upstream.
- Sponsoring LUGs
As a way to spread the word Free Software, Igalia sponsorizes some activities organized by Linux Users Groups based on Spain.
- 0.7% for NGOs
Since 2007, we donate 0.7% of our income for software services to different non-governmental organizations.
- Internships
Every year, we offer students the possibility to learn how we work and get involved in Free Software, by offering internships of 300 hours.
Yearly, Igalia awards the best Master Thesis on a Free Software related topic. This initiative intends to foster the understanding and knowledge about Free Software among students and new professionals.
As Free Software becomes mainstream, there is a lack of integration of its philosophy and methodologies in formal studies. With its involvement in the development and lecturing in the Master in Free Software, Igalia contributes to spreading the knowledge among new professionals.
