MeeGo ( Maemo / Moblin )

Meego is a open source operating system based on Linux, it was started by Nokia and Intel as a communitty effort and it merged the Maemo and Moblin efforts to create a software platform based on Linux aiming different hardware devices that are not PCs.

Maemo operating system and SDK was designed by Nokia for its Internet Tables, it is shipped in the devices: 770, N800, N810 and N900. It is based on GNOME Mobile technologies so it was an easy step for Igalia to start collaborating with its development almost from the beginning, developing programs and providing part of the platform, we were the main contributor of the Hildon library that was released with the N900.

Moblin it is an operating system developed by Intel based on GNOME Mobile technologies, its focus being the netbooks and MIDs sector. Igalia has contributed to both its platform (cally, clutter accessibility) and application portfolio, trying to get the best from the new UI concepts of the platform.

After the announcement of Meego in 2010 that brought together both platforms (Maemo and Moblin), Igalia keeps having an active commitment with the new community, trying to make good use of our experience with these communities and technologies to create the best environment for linux-based devices.
